Fast Eddie's Typing Speedometer

Laugh while you type! Fast Eddie's Typing Speedometer is a simple program to test your typing speed, yet what you type is drawn from a rich collection of jokes, one-liners, and puns! It includes a fully graphical user interface, including text that changes colors to indicate whether you typed something correctly, and a mini race car that moves across the screen as you go. Standard statistics (speed, accuracy, net speed) are displayed and constantly updated. Jokes are light-hearted, but may not be suitable for all ages.

Between 8/8/99 and 9/7/02, Fast Eddie was downloaded over 55,000 times from CNET's Download.com, or about 1500 times per month. It was being downloaded at about that rate before it was removed from the Download.com database on 3/21/03, when they started charging for program listings (and I declined to participate).
